Change Of Hearts

July 13, 2013 1 Comment

Fantastically timed to yesterday’s Friday Flashback regarding Stacey Q’s “Two Of Hearts,” some new remixes of her 1986 single have surfaced from New York duo, Grass Is Greener.

Resuscitating “Two Of Hearts” for 2020, Club DJs SR Serge (Sergei Sklyarenko) and EBAR (Eric Reithler-Barros) have given Stacey Q’s pop classic a sparkling disco makeover that would play nicely with much of Little Boots‘ recent output.

In addition to Grass Is Greener’s original mix, the “Two Of Hearts” package from Nurvous Records also features Teenage Mutants, Ian Friday, and Steven Lee & Thee Cool Cats, whose Stacey Q recontexualization I’ve got on repeat:

“Two Of Hearts” isn’t the first ’80s pop song that Grass Is Greener have grabbed for a re-do. The duo has previously sampled Billy Idol’s 1982 single “White Wedding,” marrying his vocals to a new production, “Start Again.”

Though released last December, Teenage Mutants’ remix of “Start Again” is a hot, funky one for summer:
