Already on my radar following a pair of stellar remixes for Betty Who and Blondfire, New York/Seattle duo The Soundmen are readying the release of an EP’s worth of original material.

On first single “With You,” Scott Durday and Justin Jamison place themselves at the intersection of pop, R&B, and hip-hop with Detroit vocalist Rai Knight at the production’s flirtatious center. The Soundmen have crafted exactly the sort of hybrid sound I’m expecting from Roc Nation-era Kylie Minogue. (I’d rather just skip past “Skirt,” which was only made better by a pair of remixes. Actually, I bet The Soundmen could have dressed “Skirt” up well too.)
