Another Friday Flashback, another Madonna feature. But here’s the reason: The newly-fifty Ms. Ritchie (yes, she and husband Guy remain together) kicks off her Sticky & Sweet concert tour tomorrow night in Cardiff, Wales.
The show doesn’t wind its way here to the States until October, when she’ll certainly be beckoning us to move in time—hopefully to this hit. “Into The Groove,” featured in Desperately Seeking Susan (in which she co-starred with Rosanna Arquette), has an interesting place in the Madonna oeuvre. It wasn’t released as a single, only appearing on the b-side to the “Angel” 12-inch, making it ineligible for the Billboard Hot 100. Still, “Into The Groove” was all over the radio in the summer of ’85, and MTV and other outlets played the video non-stop, too:
That same summer, “Into The Groove” was the highlight of her three-song set at the Live Aid concert. And Madonna still received some chart love for the track; “Into The Groove” reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart, her fourth such turn on top.
