Queen Of Hearts told me last December that her debut album would be out early this year, and while that plan has obviously not panned out, time is ticking for a 2020 release.
No word on what’s caused the delay behind the scenes for Elizabeth Morphew, but she hasn’t left us completely without new music. There was her icy cool cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Games” at the start of summer, and now she’s bookending the season with the arrival of an original song, “Secret.”
Queen Of Hearts’ production with London duo Devil’s Gun (Ruby Goe, Porcelain Black) owes a not-so-secret debt to Pete Heller’s club classic, “Big Love.” Who’s to say what his reaction to this slowed-down homage might be, but as I’ve got big love for both that track and Queen Of Hearts, her “Secret” is one worth sharing.
Queen Of Hearts – “Secret” is out September 9.
