I was going to begin this post with some sort of apology, but regular readers know I’m all over the musical map. If something grabs my ears, I’m gonna go ahead and share it, without regard to genre or whether today’s choice might cause future embarrassment.

Now this particular pick wouldn’t sound out of place on Grey’s Anatomy. But even if, like me, you’ve studiously avoided the show, don’t surf along to your next stop just yet. However, if you’ve never found yourself humming along to The Fray (“How To Save A Life”), Augustana (“Boston”), or Snow Patrol (“Chasing Cars”), you likely won’t hop aboard for O.A.R.‘s “Shattered (Turn This Car Around).” Still, your mom might think it’s perfectly McDreamy:

O.A.R. got its start at Ohio State University, so perhaps I’ve gotten their target TV audience all wrong. And true enough, “Shattered” has been featured on MTV’s The Hills, another show I’ve studiously avoided.

I’ll try not to let that tragic association dim my enthusiasm.
