Sneaky Sound System hails from the land Down Under. Miss Connie, Black Angus, and MC Double D. form the Sydney-based trio, which Angus describes as having “one foot in the clubs and one foot in the pop world.” Sounds like a heavenly combination to me. (Can you hear the thunder?)
They’ve already enjoyed massive success in Australia — the longest chart run ever for a single, placing four singles in the Top 40 at the same time — and now Sneaky Sound System looks to take the party to other continents. Their single, “Pictures,” was released in the UK in late July, around the time I heard it on BBC Radio 1 and took note. Here’s the video:
Sneaky Sound System has at least two high-profile fans in Britain. According to the band’s website, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters and Kylie Minogue became obsessed with “Pictures” while recording together.
While Sneaky Sound System hasn’t released anything here in the States yet, the sound of Miss Connie (Connie Mitchell) should ring somewhat familiar. She was a featured vocalist on Kanye West’s Graduation, contributing to four tracks including singles, “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “Flashing Lights.”
