Betty Who isn’t the only indie popster being called up to the majors today.
While Jess Newham has joined RCA Records, alongside labelmates with Kelly Clarkson, Justin Timberlake, and P!nk (among other chart heavyweights), Hunter Hunted will be making a home at A&M/Octone, the newest addition to a roster that includes Maroon 5, The Knocks, and Kat Graham. I saw Hunter Hunted open for Meg Myers in July and was suitably impressed with Dan Chang and Michael Garner’s live set — even hitting up the merch table afterward for their EP — so I’m not at all surprised the L.A. duo snared some major-label love.
To celebrate their signing, Hunter Hunted’s eponymous debut EP has been newly mastered and reissued under the A&M/Octone aegis. Plus, one of its standout tracks, “Keep Together,” has been remixed by San Francisco producer Viceroy as a free download. Just like Betty Who, Hunter Hunted is destined for a much bigger stage, and I couldn’t be happier for all parties involved.
