Naya Rivera – “Sorry”

Her 2CELLOS-assisted cover of Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole” aside, Naya Rivera’s long-gestating non-Glee music career is finally getting going with the release of her debut single, “Sorry.”

Backed by an assertive, What’s The 411?-era hip-hop sound, Rivera takes her boyfriend’s exes to task on “Sorry” — presumably, but not necessarily those of her now-fiancé Big Sean — who contributes a rap. There are so many things I’m unapologetically in love with on “Sorry,” like the Speak & Spell backing vocals (“S-O-R-R-Y”) and Rivera’s rhymed listing of those ticked-off exes at the end.

“Sorry” is just about flawless. The only missed opportunity is not titling the song, “Sorry (Not Sorry).”
