Anyone know whether Rihannovember is happening this year?
For the past four years, Rihanna has released a new album every November, beginning with 2009’s Rated R, through to her most recent, 2012’s Unapologetic, setting expectations that she’d follow similar timing in 2020. A vague report to that effect surfaced on Italian MTV in August, but little since has suggested album number eight is on its way next month.
So, as we’re still in the Unapologetic era until further notice, check out a cover of the closing track from the album’s deluxe edition, “Half Of Me,” by rising talent Ajo.
Included on her 24K EP out later this year, the Alabama-born, Chicago-raised, New York-based Ajo gives “Half Of Me” (co-written by Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy, and Stargate) a captivating alt-R&B makeover. This is where Lauryn Hill meets The xx.
Rihanna does have a little something coming soon, if not a new album. Re-teaming with her “Love The Way You Lie” partner, Rihanna sings the hook to Eminem’s “The Monster.” The track appears on the rapper’s new album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, out November 5.
