‘Day’ break

Appearing on Oprah yesterday, will.i.am premiered a new song and video inspired by Barack Obama’s historic presidential victory.

“It’s A New Day” is worth the watch:

On Friday’s show, Oprah said that she believed that will.i.am’s first video, “Yes We Can,” was one of the turning points of Barack Obama’s campaign. I have to second that emotion.

Remember, “Yes We Can” was the speech Obama gave after losing the New Hampshire primary to Senator Hillary Clinton. The message he delivered that night was powerful, but will.i.am amplified it with an inspiring video that made the call for change a personal one. We recognized the power of the individual; that’s why the video caught fire and was shared all over the world.

The new track, “It’s A New Day,” a fantastic souvenir of this moment in time, a celebration of how far we’ve traveled together and where we hope to go next.
