Pushing Daisies.
Eli Stone.
Dirty Sexy Money.
Three standout shows, all on ABC, all effectively canceled today.
Daisies and DSM were stunted by the Writers’ Strike during their freshman seasons (Eli Stone was a mid-season replacement). Though all returned this fall, most evenings my eyeballs were glued to coverage of a quite captivating presidential campaign. Might my viewing behavior might be extrapolated to the population at large? With TiVo Season Passes set for all three, I did make a point of watching Daisies soon after it aired (wishing to impact live-plus-3-day ratings) and the occasional DSM. (Of the three, I pegged Eli Stone as the safest.)
Original episodes are still yet to air (and I’ve got several to catch up on via TiVo), so there’s some small comfort.
Still, I haven’t felt this way since my beloved Veronica Mars got the ax. With the inevitable return of According To Jim sure to follow, what a way to screw originality and celebrate banality, ABC!
