Reading Rolling Stone while flying back from New York last week (the issue with Taylor Swift on the cover), I came upon a fashion feature with Big Apple rockers The Virgins. Prompted to pull the band up on my iPod, I was instantly reminded just how much I liked their debut.
Now the trio is looking more pretty than gritty again, this time all dolled up for Barneys New York, wearing Givenchy, Maison Martin Margiela, and more for Spring 2009. It’s really no surprise that The Virgins move so fluidly between rock and runway; two members, Donald Cumming and Wade Oates, are former models.
But back to the boys’ music, which mustn’t be overlooked in the midst of such frippery. Amazon MP3 has a little gift waiting for you, a free download of “One Week Of Danger,” a standout track from The Virgins’ self-titled disc. On Wednesday, they’re scheduled to perform the song on the new Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
