I really need to start taking notes on my music purchases, or more specifically, what turned me on to the song or artist in question. Case in point: Wild Light‘s Adult Nights arrived yesterday from Amazon, and though I’d only placed the order last week, I couldn’t recall my path to purchase.
Listening to the album on my iPod this morning, it became instantly clear that whatever might have driven my desire for Wild Light was, in fact, solid. The band’s tunes immediately felt familiar, fitting comfortably like a favorite pair of jeans, and hitting my sweet spot in just the right way (no, not that one).
The Thrills have also mined similar well-worn territory, but who knows where those Dubliners have disappeared to. New Hampshire’s Wild Light steps up to fill the sonic void and does so quite well. First track (and single) from Adult Nights, “California On My Mind,” features some salty language directed toward the Golden State, which only helped the rocking tune earn InfiniteRepeat™ status on my iPod (though likely not mainstream airplay):
Purchase Wild Light – “California On My Mind” via iTunes, Amazon MP3.
Wild Light is currently opening for The Killers on tour. For a free MP3 of Adult Nights track “My Father Was A Horse,” plus a tune from Chairlift (supporting on future dates), head here.
