Julia Roberts stopped by The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night, and America’s Sweetheart was just as lovely, charming, and funny as always. Julia and Dave have long shared a rapport, with the actress even filling in for the talk-show host when he was recovering from a quintuple bypass in 2000.
Last night, Julia mused on Dave’s recent marriage, bid a wry adieu to Bush, and shared a disarming anecdote about her visit to the White House during the Clinton years.
(I love that Julia gave Paul crap for not paying attention.)
Every time she’s a guest on The Late Show, it’s magic, bringing out the best in Dave. It might be too much to ask that she join him every night, but with Letterman close to signing a deal to continue his show on CBS through 2012, we can only hope to witness many more such visits.
As Julia said to Dave last night, “You’re so much funnier than other people who talk at this time of the evening.”
