While the throngs of screaming tweens made my concert experience less comfortable on Tuesday night, there’s no denying the talent of Kelly Clarkson. The show had somewhat of a weird flow, but a huge highlight came toward the end, when Clarkson delivered her take-no-prisoners cover of The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army.”
I haven’t been able to track down that evening’s performance (seems I can’t count on the tweens and their modern-day technology to deliver), so last week’s Milwaukee date will have to do:
Twice during her Chicago date, Clarkson referred to the “assholes” she works with, who prevent her from releasing the more bluesy stuff she likes (A&R guys, I assume). With such a diverse taste in music, here’s hoping that at some point soon she’s able to ignore their marching orders and finally unleash this kind of fury on record.
