Four Christmases

In honor of World AIDS Day today, The Killers released their new Christmas tune, “¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe!” Proceeds will benefit Product (RED), the now well-known group that partners with brands (and bands!) to raise money for The Global Fund to fight HIV and AIDS.

It’s the fourth year The Killers have recorded an original song to celebrate the season and support (RED). The festive annual charity series started in 2006 with the spectacularly grandiose “A Great Big Sled,” featuring vocals from Toni Halliday (formerly of Curve and wife of Sam’s Town producer Alan Moulder). In 2007, the Las Vegas rockers went it alone for “Don’t Shoot Me Santa,” and last year, Elton John and Pet Shop Boys collaborated on the surprisingly downbeat “Joseph, Better You Than Me.”

This year’s entry, “¡Happy Birthday, Guadalupe!”, features guest appearances from two bands, Wild Light (who opened for The Killers earlier this year) and Mariachi El Bronx (aka The Bronx). And like The Killers’ previous seasonal offerings, there’s a million-dollar video to match, with the “Guadalupe” clip casting original 90210-er Luke Perry:
