Driving the other night, I heard New Order‘s “True Faith” on the radio, featured in the fantastic Saturday Night Safety Dance on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave channel. However, this particular mix wasn’t familiar to me. I thought it must be a newer revamp of the song, which had originally made its debut in 1987 on the band’s singles collection, Substance.
A little Shazam action set me straight, revealing it as the Perfecto Mix. This remix from DJ Paul Oakenfold is actually 15 years old, part of the “True Faith ’94” CD single issued in the UK. Now I’m rarely a fan of Oakenfold’s work, but I really like this mix. Of course, when you begin with a track as top-shelf as New Order’s”True Faith,” you’d have to be really terrible for the resulting remix to fall short, but the Perfecto mix is pretty perfect:
The Perfecto mix of New Order’s “True Faith” isn’t available digitally, so look for the “True Faith ’94” CD single via resellers on eBay or Amazon.
