“Nothin’ On You,” the debut single from Atlanta rapper B.o.B. (aka Bobby Ray) featuring Bruno Mars, is a refreshing slice of hip-hop, made in the vein of Lupe Fiasco’s “Superstar.”
Not only is “Nothin’ On You” smoothly melodic (Mars’ vocal is somewhat reminiscent of Michael Jackson), the track really stands out because it celebrates fidelity, a theme too often ignored, if not explicitly disregarded, by male hip-hop artists.
Last week, “Nothin’ On You” jumped 16-5 on the Billboard Hot 100, thanks to some very robust digital sales. Will Rihanna’s “Rude Boy” stubbornly remain at #1 for a second week, or step aside for a gentleman like B.o.B.? He’s got a pretty great video to match. Hear here:
