A Return To ‘Love’

March 27, 2010 2 Comments

After taking a nearly two-year break, one of my all-time favorite dance divas, Suzanne Palmer, is back, covering of one of my all-time favorite club tracks, Pete Heller’s “Big Love,” with a new production orchestrated by one of my all-time favorite DJs, Peter Rauhofer.

Three mixes of “Big Love” have been issued on Star 69 Records, the progressive dance music label Rauhofer founded in 1999. Etienne Ozborne & Peter Brown and Muzzaik turn in two club-worthy extensions, but I’ve got big love for Rauhofer’s reinvention:

Palmer and Rauhofer first crossed paths when she was a vocalist for his Club 69 project in the late-’90s (“Alright,” “Much Better,” “Muscles”). In 2005, his Star 69 Records label released her second album, Home, accompanied by a slew of singles and promo mixes. Though I’m majorly stoked about Palmer’s return to the dancefloor, “Big Love” isn’t much a vocal track, so I’m hoping it’s a hint of the still-big plans Rauhofer has for Palmer’s big voice.
