Nothing like being ignored by the guy or gal for whom you pine, especially when your heart is breaking to the beat being pumped out at your local discotheque.
Inspired by a history of “inherently sad, gay disco anthems” sung by the likes of Ultravox, Sylvester, and Donna Summer, Robyn adds her tale of woe to the list with “Dancing On My Own,” the new single from the Swedish singer-songwriter’s long-awaited new album, Body Talk Pt. 1. (Previous LP, the eponymous Robyn, was originally released overseas in 2005, basically eons ago in the music biz). The video for “Dancing On My Own” has been out for a couple of weeks, but the single was released digitally just yesterday.
Really, I can’t fathom why anyone would overlook the platinum-haired electro-popper, even in song, but Robyn wears heartbreak phenomenally well. I especially dig the drums at 2:42. Hear here:
Body Talk Pt. 1, the first of three (!) albums Robyn has planned for 2010, is out June 15th.
