Flagrant violation

January 29, 2011 0 Comments

Something’s not quite right in the music video for Chromeo‘s “Hot Mess.” Set at a police station populated by comely female cops — with the exception of two male members, the electrofunk duo’s Dave 1 and P-Thugg — one lady you’d assume to be captain of the force is conspiciously MIA in the clip: Elly Jackson of La Roux, who contributes vocals to this remixed track from Business Casual.

Just past the locker room in Chromeo’s fantasy precinct is a large pool/sauna. (Of course there is.) So maybe Jackson was tipped off that she’d be getting steamy with P-Thugg — talk about a hot mess — and a “scheduling conflict” suddenly popped up on her otherwise clear calendar.

Who opened their big yap and snitched to the redhead? If only she’d been cast as Dave 1’s partner, I’m sure Jackson would have run several red lights and risked arrest to buddy up. (Oh, wait. That’s me.)

Actually, the truth is that there was already a video for the original “Hot Mess,” and Chromeo simply re-tracked the existing video with the La Roux remix. Still, shouldn’t there be a law against that?
