Happy Valentine’s Day, lovers of the world!

If, however, you’re currently a card-carrying member of the Lonely Hearts Club — or simply can’t help but swoon for lovelorn pop, regardless of relationship status — then Bright Light Bright Light (aka Rod Thomas) has something special to share with you in mind today.

“How To Make A Heart” will be included on Bright Light Bright Light’s debut album out later this year. This new animated video for the song — “a tale of a robot very much not in love” — was directed by Gavin Leisfeld. Sad, little robot:

Packing your bags to Austin, Texas for SXSW? Be sure to catch Bright Light Bright Light at one of three showcases Thomas has lined up: March 15 at Latitude 30, 9:00 pm (British Music Embassy Opening Party), March 16 at Latitude 30, 1:00 pm (Welsh Music Assembly Showcase), and March 17 at Ghost Room, 9:00 pm (BMI Showcase). Maybe you’ll even hear the ’90s music-loving Thomas throw in an Ace Of Base cover (though probably not this one).

Snag a free download of an iPod-friendly version of the “How To Make A Heart” video, which will come in handy today if you find yourself in the company of couples holding hands or surrounded by lovestruck folks with flowers and candy in hand. Hit play, sink into a corner, and begin to weep softly to yourself.
