Six years have passed and yet I’ve still got Ladytron’s “Destroy Everything You Touch” in regular rotation. That fantastic song, from 2005’s Witching Hour, is among the 17 tracks collected on the Liverpool electro outfit’s new career retrospective, Best of Ladytron: 00-10, out today. There’s also a deluxe edition with an additional 16 tracks and an 80-page photo booklet.
In the video for the set’s lead single, “Ace of Hz,” Ladytron marries the organic to their synthpop. Set in what looks like the band’s basement practice space, leaves litter the floor, mushrooms grow out of keyboards, vines wind their way everywhere, and an egg gets a starring role. At least Lady Gaga doesn’t emerge from it at the end:
Ladytron has also released a companion remix album, the imaginatively titled Best of Remixes, that features reworks by Toxic Avenger, Felix Da Housecat, Simian Mobile Disco, Hot Chip, and others.
