I can’t believe it’s been ten years since Superchumbo (aka Tom Stephan) issued this clarion call to clubbers, voiced by Victoria Wilson James: “It’s time for the revolution! Get down on your knees!”
Now “The Revolution,” which stood out in 2001 by sounding like nothing else, has been refitted for 2011 with a new roster of mixes. There are eight total, with Ivan Gomez & Nacho Chapado, Adam Freemer, That Kid Chris, D-Formation, Ryan SCY, Kenny Summit, Fake I.D., and Superchumbo himself contributing to the cause.
With people around the world taking to the streets to protest inequality and fight for change, the time seems right for the return of “The Revolution.” But why not twist it a bit, casting it as a rallying cry for retiring arms, laying signs aside, and coming together instead to dance it out? I suggest kicking off the détente with the D-Formation Remix, which offers a bit more bounce for your boots.
