…Atkins and she’s amazing. I’ve been a Nicole Atkins acolyte since she sauntered into my musical consciousness with a sonically arresting debut called Neptune City back in 2007.
In February, following what I’ve decided to term her ‘wilderness years’ (a covers EP, a complete band overhaul, a record-label switch, and a manufacturing delay), Atkins finally released her sophomore set, Mondo Amore. While at times a bluesier, more rocking affair than Neptune City, the ‘pop noir’ feel that I fell madly in love with the first time around is still present in spades.
