Washed Out’s Within And Without, the singular work of 28-year-old Atlanta-based songwriter/producer Ernest Greene, was released last week. Today, Greene shared the music video for “Eyes Be Closed,” the album’s first single, directed by Timothy Saccenti (Battles, Chairlift) and Alan Bibby.

Pretty much a pretty girl sitting atop a motorcycle and pointing it forward in front of some blue-screen backdrops, “Eyes Be Closed” isn’t a traditional music video. Instead, the clip is described as “a beautiful short visual piece.”

Fair enough, since the Washed Out tune is a gorgeous synthpop production, traveling an atmospheric road similar to The Cars’ “Drive” (with The Cure’s “Pictures Of You” as passenger) before taking the off-ramp toward euphoria in its final minute. Highly recommended.
