Friendly Fires paid a visit to the BBC Radio 1 studios for a Live Lounge set earlier today in support of their current album, Pala. As is tradition for any artist who stops by the Live Lounge, in addition to doing a tune of their own (“Hawaiian Air”), the trio had to come prepared to perform a cover of a current pop song.
The lads from St Albans didn’t fail to surprise, treating listeners to their take on Lady Gaga’s “The Edge Of Glory.” Enjoy this while it’s still up (that’s host Fearne Cotton chiming in at the end):
This week, Lady Gaga falls one spot to #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “The Edge Of Glory.” But with a well-received performance on Howard Stern’s radio show this past Monday, and an unofficial video getting some exposure (thanks to a gay-marriage theme that handily bests the original), maybe “Glory” will edge its way back up.
