Cee Lo isn’t turning off ‘Lights’ yet

Is Cee Lo Green’s “Bright Lights, Bigger City” the musical equivalent of Mean Girls“fetch”? Perhaps the pop world’s latest “Louboutins”?

Seems The Voice coach/Fuse talk-show host/Oprah theme-song singer hasn’t given up on trying to make his second single from The Lady Killer happen. The first “Bright Lights Bigger City” video premiered last November, and Cee Lo’s performed the song live on television several times this year, including The Grammys in February and The Voice in June.

Earlier this month, a new “Bright Lights Bigger City” music video was released, remixed to feature a rap from Wiz Khalifa. Though no single has been made available, one of the longest promo campaigns in recent memory rolls on, as Cee Lo brought along a string section to perform the song on The Late Show with David Letterman on Wednesday night with the help of Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra (but not Wiz Khalifa).

It’s a tight take (and I’m a total sucker for strings in pop songs):

Just this morning, Cee Lo was at it again, sticking with the Big Apple but bringing his late-night vibe to the Today show. He ditched the strings, instead fetching an all-female band for another shot at making “Bright Lights Bigger City” the monster hit I agree it deserves to be.
