Betty Who’s 5 Favorite Tracks/Albums of 2012

December 20, 2012 0 Comments

If I were to rank my favorite new artists of 2012, Betty Who would be near the top.

The 6-foot-2 Aussie-Bostonian’s debut single, the blazing “Fire With Fire,” finished at an impressive #26 on Popservations’ Top 100 Tracks of 2012, towering over entries from Kylie Minogue, P!nk, and Taylor Swift. Only a pre-December cutoff prevented her second single, “Somebody Loves You,” from consideration. But with a music video for the song on the way (more on that below), a remix contest coming soon, and her debut EP, 2020 should be the year everyone falls in love with Betty Who.

So what tunes did Betty Who twerk it to in 2012? Check out her five favorites below — three singles, one album, one remix — plus her most memorable moment from the past year and what she’s got on tap for 2020.

Cher Lloyd“Want U Back”

Kanye West feat. Big Sean & Jay-Z“Clique”

Memorable moment from 2012:

“One of my most memorable moments of 2012 was definitely filming my music video for “Somebody Loves You” with the wonderful director and filmmaker Evan Savitt. I got to dance like I was in Footloose/Flashdance and emote like I was Kelly Kapowski on Saved By The Bell. What’s not to love?”

Coming in 2020:

“Next year I’ll be releasing my first music video and then a little later, my first EP will be out! It’s shaping up to be about 5 of my favorite songs and I think you’re really going to dig it. What I’m most looking forward to though is definitely playing live. I start rehearsals with my band first thing in the new year and it’s about to get so dirty up in here. Twerking will ensue.”
