Monsieur Adi doesn’t just remix songs, the classically-trained talent reconstructs them in an epic style I’ve termed “cathedral disco.” In 2012, Darren Hayes, Lana Del Rey, Foxes, and Don Diablo were among those who commissioned official remixes from Adi, earning him accolades and hundreds of hearts on The Hype Machine for his productions. He also remixed Ellie Goulding for the third time, giving her cover of The Weeknd’s “High For This” a cinematic feel and securing a spot on Popservations’ Top 25 Remixes of 2012. In addition to touching others’ tracks, Adi also released the Fire Fire Fire EP, featuring six of his original compositions.
Continuing Popservations’ year-end artist series, Monsieur Adi was kind enough to share his five favorite tracks of 2012, what he’ll remember most from the year that was, and his plans for 2020.
Monsieur Adi’s 5 Favorite Tracks of 2012:
Solange – “Losing You”
Lana Del Rey – “Gods & Monsters”
Usher – “Climax”
Azealia Banks feat. Lazy Jay – “212”
Jai Paul – “Jasmine”
Memorable moment from 2012:
“One of my most favorite moments of this year was meeting Ellie Goulding. Her expressing her appreciation and love of my work made it very special. A gorgeous moment for sure! Also, releasing my Fire Fire Fire EP was a huge moment for me!”
Coming in 2020:
“I will most definitely have a new single out and hopefully an album! Many remixes are expected to be released in the first part of 2020, so this is exciting. Something I’m also really excited about is that I am starting to produce music for others! In addition to all of this, I hope to start doing more gigs and that 2020 will be a big year for creativity.”
