Audra Mae covers Whitesnake

I absolutely adore The Good Wife. Headed by Juliana Margulies as the titular character and (ever-shifting) moral center, the show’s whole ensemble shines, one of TV’s current best. But it’s actress Archie Punjabi, who plays the firm’s bad-ass, tequila shot-loving internal investigator, Kalinda Sharma, that I really tune in for. It doesn’t hurt that Kalinda’s also one of TV’s best dressed characters. I covet her fitted leather jackets, especially the luscious red one, a color somewhere between merlot and blood.

This past Sunday’s “Another Ham Sandwich” episode of The Good Wife will be tough to top. I won’t spoil it in case you’re also a fan and haven’t cued it up on your DVR yet, but the minute the episode finished, “Another Ham Sandwich” had earned a spot alongside Mad Men‘s Season 3 finale, “Shut The Door. Have A Seat,” prime examples of flawlessly executed television of recent vintage.

“Another Ham Sandwich” was completely captivating to the very end, wrapping with a scene in which a cover of Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again” played underneath. Oklahoma-born singer-songwriter Audra Mae, great-great-niece of Judy Garland, recast the hair band’s 1987 #1 hit as a rollicking, country blues-infused number for her 2009 self-titled EP, and I’m sure she can’t believe her good fortune with grabbing such a meaty feature in The Good Wife.
