London duo Pandr Eyez has covered Mariah Carey’s “Heartbreaker.” Ferren Gipson and Tom Lloyd’s rendition of the 1999 #1 hit (Carey’s 14th, record-keepers, of a career 18) serves as the first single from a new EP, Present, arriving on February 4.
Pandr Eyez take “Heartbreaker” under the covers of mid-80’s pop/R&B, giving the song a sexy, lights-down-low feel. The approach wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Janet Jackson’s Control, though the theme here is more “Give me your love right now” than “Let’s wait awhile.”
