Shane Harper covers The Outfield

August 19, 2012 0 Comments

Until last week, if you’d wanted to get your hands on Shane Harper‘s cover of The Outfield’s “Your Love,” you would have had to track down the Target deluxe edition of his eponymous debut, released in February.

But Harper’s new EP, Dancin’ In The Rain, collects the cover plus the other three previously exclusive tracks for the rest of us. The 4-song set (with bonus music video) was made available for digital download this past Tuesday, when I took note of “Your Love” on the tracklisting and thus, Harper.

The 19-year-old California native, who also has a recurring role on the Disney Channel series, Good Luck Charlie, does an admirable job with “Your Love.” Produced by Morgan Taylor Reid (7Lions, The Ready Set), Harper’s take on The Outfield’s 1986 #6 hit has a propulsive, almost Mumford & Sons feel, even though he’s a little bit younger. The ad libs in the last minute are fantastic additions, going a long way to make the London trio’s familiar tune Harper’s own.

Purchase Shane Harper – “Your Love” (The Outfield cover) via iTunes, Amazon MP3.
