While I thought Bright Light Bright Light had wrapped the album campaign for his debut album Make Me Believe In Hope with the release of a lovely new duet version of “Grace” last month, Rod Thomas isn’t flipping the switch to the ‘off’ position just yet.
First, Bright Light Bright Light is participating in the first-ever Cassette Store Day, to be held on September 7. A special Gold Edition of Make Me Believe In Hope will feature both the original album and a ‘Blueprints Version’ (solo piano versions) of all 11 tracks plus the song “Blueprint” on a gold cassette. Bright Light Bright Light is also performing at Rough Trade East in London on Cassette Store Day as well.
A little over a week later, on September 16, Make Me Believe In Hope: Blueprints Version will be released via CD and digital download. Pre-orders of the former come with a free bonus MP3 of “In Your Care” (Solo Piano Demo).
By way of celebrating all of this news, Bright Light Bright Light debuted a music video for his album’s penultimate track, “Debris,” directed by Gavin Leisfield. He’s also gifted the song as a free download.
Bright Light Bright Light recently polled his followers about which track from Make Me Believe In Hope they’d pick to share with friends as a gift. “Cry At Films” was the winner — a rare example of the public getting it right — with the Del Marquis-featuring song now available for free download for you and anyone in your life who appreciates a well-crafted pop tune.
But wait, there’s more — and this bit is the best. Having passed 40,000 followers on SoundCloud a few days ago, Bright Light Bright Light posted an unreleased song from the Make Me Believe In Hope sessions, a collaboration with Andy Chatterly called “Inside Out.” Listen to the darker-tinged track and download below:
Whew! I’d say that’s all, but stop me if you think that you’ve heard this one before.
