For reasons that remain fuzzy, Mini Viva, the UK pop duo created by production team Xenomania, called it quits late last year after a brief three-single run. Though the two had reportedly recorded several more songs, it looks like we’ll never get to hear them or the album that had been anticipated.
But Britt Love, the non-curly haired half of Mini Viva, has taken whatever tears she might have shed over that turn of events and channeled her energies into pursuit of a DIY solo career. This week she premiered a new song, “Come With Me,” a bit of fantastic pleading-love pop produced by Youth Kills. The song’s winningness is no doubt aided by its inescapable similarity (in parts) to another tune I adore, Robyn’s “With Every Heartbeat.”
We all have our heroes, of course, and Britt Love looks set to dance on her own if that’s what it takes to make it.
