It’s never a bad day when Capital Cities comes across with something new.
The latest from the Los Angeles duo, “Kangaroo Court,” is an effervescent midtempo track tailor-made to soundtrack a lazy summer day. Maybe something beachy or driving with the windows down, hand out, buffeted by the breeze? (What do you mean it’s only March?)
The sunset brass on “Kangaroo Court,” especially the ecstatic wail at 2:28, really makes the track, an inspired addition that sets Capital Cities apart from their synthpop peers.
Capital Cities plans to release a full-length album later this year, preceded by more tracks in the coming months.
