Two years after remixing The Knocks‘ “Dancing With The DJ,” fellow New Yorker Dave Edwards has turned his production talents upon the duo’s 2012 single, “The Feeling,” giving the track a new electro-house makeover.
“‘The Feeling’ is one of my favorite tracks in any genre from the last year,” Edwards says via email. “I’ve taken the original vocals and combined them with a new chord progression and a hard yet melodic electro house bassline to give the remix dancefloor appeal while maintaining its pop roots.” He says it’s his favorite remix he’s ever done. “It shows the evolution of my sound and a preview of what I’ve got in store for 2020.”
Having listened to what Edwards has done with “The Feeling” — more than a remix, it’s a reconstruction — he’s got reason to be proud. I’m looking forward to hearing what he’s got lined up next.
For you aspiring producers out there, Edwards has been sharing tricks of the trade — business advice and studio tips — on Tumblr and YouTube.
