Kelly Clarkson Shows Her Dallas Side

August 14, 2012 0 Comments

Are you ready for some football?

According to my Interweb research, the NFL preseason got underway last Thursday, with the Dallas Cowboys wrapping up the first week of exhibition play last night with a 3-0 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Fitting then that today, Burleson, Texas’ own Kelly Clarkson released a hometown anthem for the Dallas Cowboys in partnership with Pepsi and the NFL. Thrilled to be the one picked to pay musical tribute to America’s Team, she penned the lyrics the same night she signed on. Clarkson’s contribution, the fist-pumping pop of “Get Up (A Cowboys Anthem),” will no doubt amp up the team’s players, coaches, and fans for the games ahead.

“When you’re born in Fort Worth, you come out of the womb loving the Cowboys,” she says. “In Texas, people love football more than anything. Once they find out about this, I’ll be golden.”

If you don’t happen to be a Cowboys fan or prefer to sit on the sport’s sidelines, you’ll still love Kelly Clarkson’s “Get Up,” even with her Dallas side.

Fun fact: The Dallas Cowboys were my favorite football team as a kid. My sports-fanatic younger brother had already zeroed in on our hometown team, the Chicago Bears, so the Texas team became my pick even though I really didn’t follow football. But I had the apparel and accessories — and occasional bragging rights!
