As song titles go, “Magic” is a popular one. I’ve got over a dozen different songs called “Magic” in my iTunes library, ranging from outright hits (Olivia Newton-John, The Cars, B.o.B.) to lesser-known numbers (Sophie Ellis-Bextor, The Knocks, Twenty Twenty).

Now Olympic Ayres has conjured up a new bit of “Magic” for 2020. The Sydney duo’s relaxed disco groove casts quite the summer spell — they’ve even dropped in a temperature-appropriate tropical percussion break, complete with congas. Produced by Jean-Paul Fung (Theophilus London, Gold Fields), “Magic” appears on Olympic Ayres’ forthcoming EP, Episode III, and might just do the trick of dislodging B.o.B. and Rivers Cuomo from my head after three long years.

In addition to Olympic Ayres’ original, remixes of “Magic” have been completed by fellow Australian Luke Million, Switzerland’s Pharao Black Magic, and Austin/Houston, Texas duo Night Drive.
