If two’s a trend, then cowboy culture might very well have taken off (again) in Los Angeles.

Last week, RAC released the music video for “Hollywood,” featuring a man and his horse straight out of the 1850s, lost in Lalaland. Now DWNTWN has a new EP, titled Cowboys, though the connection appears to extend only as far as the title and cover art, with Jamie Leffler of the L.A. duo dressed in the requisite garb.

Following last month’s “See My Eyes,” from the Kitsune America compilation, Cowboys features four tracks, including the previously released “Hungry Hearts.” Lest you be misdirected, the rest aren’t dust-kickin’ numbers made for line dancing either, but the kind of breezy synthpop DWNTWN is aces at delivering. (All the better, in my book.)
