As if to make up for the delay between the December debut of their single “5-HT” and its release earlier this month, British synthpop trio The Good Natured have shared a second Richard X production, “Lovers,” as a free download.
While “5-HT” proffered a heady rush of ’90s influences (appropriate for a song titled after a chemical that helps the brain release serotonin), “Lovers” reaches back to the ’80s. It’s a solid pop tune that packs a punch: You and I could be lovers / But you and I will never be in love. Friends with benefits it is, then.
“Lovers” is set for inclusion on The Good Natured’s forthcoming debut album, Prism, whose cover art may or may not look like this.
