Five years after Ode To J. Smith and three years after frontman Fran Healy’s solo effort, Wreckorder, Travis announced today that they’ve finished their seventh studio album. The Scottish band are offering a free download of “Another Guy” as a “pre-single teaser song to start things moving.”

“Rather than put the track out there alone we, and our dear friend, the legendary film director Wolfgang Becker made a little dramatisation which does all the things a Travis video should do,” Healy writes. “We decided, in light of everything going Hi-Definition, we’d shoot on a VHS camera. Also we asked Wolfgang to star in it, because he is the coolest guy in Berlin.”

Not sure what to make of “Another Guy.” It’s got a driving beat but is a bit of an aimless tune, or more generously, circular. In that respect, it’s a perfect tease, not really tipping Travis’ hand as to what their seventh album might bring. As Healy sings at the end, “You can say what you want, but it won’t change a thing.”
