A few weeks back, electropop musician/producer Vincent Frank switched up the moniker he attaches to his solo projects, replacing Frankmusik with Vincent Did It.
Whatever name Frank chooses for himself, one thing that hasn’t changed is his love for Whitney Houston. On tour with Erasure last year to promote his Frankmusik album, Do It In The AM, her 1985 #1 hit “How Will I Know” was a centerpiece of the ’80s covers included in his opening set.
Learning of Houston’s death yesterday at 48, Frank tweeted, “@houstonwhitney I will always love you,” and immediately hunkered down in his home studio to express his feelings through music. Just after midnight, he shared this with the world:
Here is my @houstonwhitney tribute track. I only wanna dance to her music. Here is my reinvention of my fave ballad. soundcloud.com/vincentdidit/i…

Vincent Did It’s transformation of “I Have Nothing” from showstopping Bodyguard ballad into dance-pop delight provides a welcome break from the shock and sadness we’re still feeling this morning. Made with love, his small tribute is a reminder to celebrate Houston’s life, however too short, and the light she brought to ours via her amazing talent.
As Vincent Did It notes on his SoundCloud, “THANK YOU WHITNEY FOR BEING THE BEST VOCALIST I HAVE EVER HEARD” — a sentiment shared around the world, for sure.
