So I read about this just as I was heading out of town (truly, I was on the Blue Line to O’Hare when I spied the ad in Time Out Chicago), but The Posies will be at the Taste of Randolph Street festival on Saturday. Even better, they’re coming to the Windy City to perform their 1993 album, Frosting On The Beater, in its entirety.
I’ve always loved that album’s name and sweet cover art, but it wouldn’t have mattered much without power-pop confections like “Dream All Day.” My favorite Frosting track and The Posies’ biggest hit, the song reached #4 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart on July 17, 1993:
So if you’re in Chicago on Saturday, The Posies are scheduled to take the stage at 5:30 pm at Taste of Randolph Street, between Peoria & Racine. Not only are Urge Overkill and Tinted Windows also performing, but the participating restaurants are reason enough to head on over.
