Miss him blind?

The news out of the British legal system today wasn’t good for Boy George. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison for falsely imprisoning male escort Audun Carlsen.

The court, it appears, decided George really did want to hurt him and make him cry. (Accusing Carlsen of tampering with a laptop and stealing some photos, George chained Carlsen to a wall and beat him.)

With the former Culture Club singer facing some real time in the slammer (versus the short community service stint he received two years ago in NYC for falsely reporting a burglary at his Manhattan apartment—the cops instead discovered George’s sizeable stash of cocaine), it appears karma ultimately caught up to its target.

Speaking of reaping what one sows, Culture Club single “Karma Chameleon” was closing in on the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 twenty-five years ago this week. It would finally reach #1 on February 4, 1984, and sit there for two more weeks. “Karma Chameleon” was the group’s only number-one showing.

While he’s pondering his time inside the pokey (or whatever they might call jail in Britain), perhaps George will look back fondly to his more innocent days, like those spent cavorting aboard a riverboat:
