U should 2

Last night, I saw U2 3D at the IMAX. Never having seen the band live, it’s the closest I’ve come (besides bits of Rattle and Hum). And “closest” is the key word. Seeing the quartet on stage in 3D is really something; you get a sense of what it’s like to perform in front of crazy-big crowds. Plus, it’s particularly cool when Bono looks directly into the camera, like he’s staring straight through to your soul (albeit a little creepy, too).

A special-event movie meant for the masses, the U2 3D setlist is heavy-up on classic U2 hits over more recent material. I was surprised by the left-field inclusion of “Miss Sarajevo,” though Bono expertly handled the operatic part originally performed by Luciano Pavarotti.

But as someone who really took notice of U2 only when Achtung Baby was released in 1991, hearing “The Fly” again brought back some good college-era memories:

I’m a big fan of that album, so I’m interested in reading this, too.
