In The Bag For Fiona Apple

June 20, 2012 0 Comments

Fiona Apple‘s long-awaited album, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than The Driver Of The Screw And Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do, was released yesterday. It’s the singer-songwriter’s first full-length effort in seven years, and just the fourth album of her 16-year career.

Though I tweeted the link to the album’s pre-release stream and received my physical copy last evening, I’ve yet to give The Idler Wheel… a spin beyond the three songs separately shared in advance (lead single “Every Single Night,” “Werewolf,” and “Anything We Want”).

And now that I’ve come across Apple’s performance of “Paper Bag” from Monday night’s launch party for The Idler Wheel… at The Standard Hotel in New York, the rest of her new material will have to wait just a few minutes more. Included on 1999’s When The Pawn…, “Paper Bag” is still without peer in her songbook.

Fiona Apple has added more dates to her U.S. tour in support of The Idler Wheel…, so if you missed out on tickets the first time, you’ve got a couple of days to prepare a new plan.

Purchase Fiona Apple – The Idler Wheel Is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More Than Ropes Will Ever Do via iTunes, Amazon MP3.
