Three of my favorite singing ladies visited late-night last night: one newbie, one showbiz veteran, and another of recent vintage.
Oh Land made her U.S. network television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman, singing “Sun Of A Gun.” The Danish singer-songwriter, whose eponymous album arrives March 15, brought along her balloons to handle backup:

2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Darlene Love, a perennial Letterman guest (and good friend of Paul Shaffer), visited enemy territory last night, showing up on The Tonight Show for a rendition of “River Deep, Mountain High,” from her A Concert Of Love album.
While Love famously fronted a great number of Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound productions (several credited to other names), it was Tina Turner who commandeered the fury and bombast of the original 1966 masterpiece (and infamous flop). Still, blessed with a voice that’s a national treasure, Love spins some pretty powerful gold of her own on this live take:

And now, something that rumbles in an entirely different way. Hair slicked back and clad in black leather, Lykke Li stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to perform “Get Some” from her just-released LP, Wounded Rhymes. Li’s tambourine break on the percussive track is a highlight:
