Well, look who’s gracing the cover of Elle‘s Music Issue. My fave Swede popster Robyn, whose expression seems to convey similar surprise at the selection. She’s in amazing company too, with female artists Aretha Franklin, Stevie Nicks, Gwen Stefani, Adele, Beyoncé, Jennifer Hudson, Florence Welch, and more featured inside. Konichiwa, bitches!
The buzz surrounding Robyn’s Body Talk project seems to have cooled a bit, something her status as an Elle cover girl could easily reignite. In fact, the magazine piece is just the latest show of new love for the platinum-haired pixie. Fellow pop stars (from different generations it’s worth noting) have publically declared themselves fans of Robyn, mentions that together add up to a well-timed surge of support. OMD praised Robyn for making “her own statement using very raw slabs of electronic music.” Britney Spears (or whoever may be ghostwriting her email interviews) told Rolling Stone that she’d been listening to Robyn (and Adele) non-stop. After describing the acoustic version of “Hang With Me” as “absolutely delightful,” Ellie Goulding tweeted, “I love her so.”
Robyn will perform at Elle‘s second annual Women In Music event in Hollywood on April 11, with the magazine’s Music Issue hitting newsstands the following day. Other covers are expected to be released, but none of dem do it like Robyn can. With all the renewed attention, the timing seems right for Robyn to release “Time Machine” as a single, no?
