As mashups go, they don’t come much more epic than this.
Greek DJ/producer Robin Skouteris and Atlanta DJ Pat Scott load up Madonna’s “Gang Bang” (one of MDNA‘s revelatory tracks) and lock in bits of Nancy Sinatra’s version of “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down),” which played over the opening credits to Kill Bill: Volume 1. The pair’s mashup, titled “The Gang Bang Theory,” also make inspired use of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Band Name” and Drowning Pool’s “Bodies.”
But the genius of Skouteris and Scott’s shoot ’em up style really comes to life via the accompanying video by Panos T, who intercuts scenes from Quentin Tarantino’s 2003 blood-soaked revenge film starring Uma Thurman with Madonna’s own ultraviolent 2001 music video for “What It Feels Like For A Girl,” directed by then-husband Guy Ritchie.
Bang, bang, this is all around brilliant.
